Data handling
Privacy
MotRadar is designed for anonymous MOT checks. The MVP does not create accounts, collect email addresses, ask for marketing consent or sell personal data.
Anonymous use
You can use MotRadar without creating an account. We do not ask for your name, phone number or marketing email before showing an MOT report.
Registration lookups
Registration numbers are sent to our same-origin server endpoint so it can query DVSA. DVSA credentials and access tokens stay on the server and are never sent to your browser.
Caching
Successful lookup results may be cached by normalised registration for up to one hour for fresh responses and up to 24 hours for clearly labelled stale fallback during upstream outages. Stale fallback results are shown with their original fetch time.
Logs and metrics
Operational logs and anonymous metrics are limited to success/error categories, latency and cache status. Full registrations, API keys, client secrets and access tokens are redacted.
Analytics and cookies
MotRadar uses Google Analytics 4 to count page views and understand which pages people use. It sets Google Analytics cookies in your browser and sends Google your page URL, referrer, approximate location, device and browser details, and a randomly generated identifier. We do not send registration numbers or MOT results to Google.
We do not use advertising, remarketing or cross-site tracking features. You can block this with any browser setting, extension or tracking-protection feature that stops Google Analytics; the MOT check works exactly the same either way. Google describes its own handling at policies.google.com/privacy.
Third-party services
MotRadar depends on DVSA MOT History API data, Vercel-hosted server infrastructure and Google Analytics 4 as described above. If we connect another provider, we will describe it here.
Retention and contact
Cached MOT responses expire automatically according to the freshness windows above. To ask about privacy, deletion or data handling, email support@motradar.co.uk. MotRadar does not sell personal data.
